Left it a little longer than I originally intended to between these two make-up posts featuring Aria Montgomery from Pretty Little Liars, but I went on a spending spree in Superdrug and bought far too much from the MUA stand, so they had to be reviewed first! Back on track now though, and I'm going to kick things off by continuing my post on Aria's make-up. I've done one on her everyday make-up here, so in this one I'll cover her evening make-up and then look at how to try to recreate her ludicrously beautiful hair. I'm not jealous or anything... If you've not read my other Pretty Little Liars posts, I'll put up links to them all at the bottom of this post.
First up, these are my favourite pictures of Aria that show her evening make-up and hair styles.
Aria's evening make-up isn't actually that different to her everyday make-up, the main different is the increase in eye definition, and a darker or more intense colour lipstick. Her hair is either pinned up in a messy, dishevelled bun, with a few strands pulled out around her face, or down, loose and wavy. I love the top left and bottom left photos, it's a really effortless style but works so well, especially if the outfit is quite a statement. Not going to go into foundation etc. as I covered that in my other Aria beauty post, which I've linked above, but I'll pick out my favourite pieces that you could use to transform her everyday make-up into something with a bit more oomph. I've fallen in love with MUA cosmetics recently, especially the lipstick, so for a bit of fun I'm going to pick out my favourite products from their range that I think you could use to create Aria's look. The main reason for me doing this is so when I next go to Meadowhall I've got a legitimate reason to raid Superdrug!
Aria always accentuates her eyes, and a look I'm currently making my own everyday look is the metallic smoky eye. I love this, and use a metallic silver, a tiny bit of white shadow in the inner corner, a dark, gunmetal silver-grey on the outer corner, and then a deep matte black for even more definition and smokiness. I've found MUA shadows to be great for this look, as they are really pigmented and last all day, unlike others that seem to disappear! The best shades for this look are 1, 2, Pearl 14, and Matte 20.
Liner is an everyday staple for me, and although I'm currently working with a gel liner, I love the classic, clean, perfect line that you can get with a liquid liner. This black liner is such a bargain, and I use this when I can't face battling with my gel liner! I'm slowly getting the hang of it but this is so much easier. I'm also loving glitter eyeliners, especially if I'm wanting to glitz up my eyes quickly and they look great. I got some glitter MUA liners for Christmas and was really impressed by the amount of glitter you actually get, as most I've tried hardly deposit any glitter on your eyes. These two are my favourites, the black glitter and the silver.
If you're going to do big, smoky and dramatic eyes, you definitely need mascara otherwise your lashes are just going to be lost in the shadows! This is meant to give a false lash effect, and for £2 I'm willing to give that a go! I'm forever trying expensive ones that promise the world and don't deliver, and I think it's time to explore other brands, so I've put this on my list of things to buy next week.
Blusher wise, my favourite shade is number 3, as it's got a bit more peach in it that the other pinky shade and really flatters my skin tone. I can look really washed out without blusher, especially in photos so I need all the help I can get.
I want Aria's hair so much it hurts. It's got so much volume, it's thick and shiny, and just screams healthiness and sheer beauty! I really want to try the InStyler Rotating Iron as I've heard SO many good things about it, and I can never get my hair to have any volume in it, it just falls flat.
Another product that's been getting rave reviews is the TRESemmé 24 Hour body collection. The products that I'd use from this collection to get Aria's look would be this heat defence spray, as I won't use any sort of heated appliance on my hair without protection, and this volumising spray. There is also a mousse that's supposed to be really good, but I'm never sure how to use mousses so I'd have to do a bit more research into it!
My all time favourite hairspray has to be Wella's Silvikrin, I've just never found anything else that compares. It smells quite nice, holds everything firmly in place without going rock hard or sticky, and doesn't leave my hair feeling rough or gritty after brushing it out.
Hope you're still enjoying the Pretty Little Liars post, have you seen the latest episode? I LOVE the part when Aria and Ezra are kissing in the rain, they are the cutest couple ever! I want him for myself!
