Star Of The Week #1

I said in yesterday's post that I wanted to start doing more regular features on my blog, such as the Things I Want post I did yesterday. My other weekly post that I've decided to start doing is Star Of The Week. Pretty self-explanatory, each week I'll tell you about my favourite item that I've bought or discovered that week, and review it if possible.
It's been pretty hard to decide what I should pick for my first Star Of The Week, as I've spent way too much money on beauty products this week! Not bought any clothes though, so my choices are fairly limited in that respect. I finally managed to decide on one, which is.....

Drum roll please!!

Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Foundation!

I bought this on Monday night, and forced myself to wait until Tuesday to try it, as I immediately wanted to wash off my existing make-up and play with my new one! I was a little apprehensive at first, as I'd read countless reviews on both this foundation and the regular Double Wear, and it took me quite a while to decide which I wanted. My skin is actually pretty good, I don't get that many break-outs, but when I do I feel really self-conscious and struggle to find a product that actually conceals them to the point of not being able to see them at all. I also have very pale skin and cheeks that have a tendency to glow red whenever they feel like it, so wanted to be able to cover them so the red patches didn't glow through my foundation! I eventually decided on the Maximum Cover, and got matched up at the Estée Lauder counter in Debenhams at Meadowhall. The lady was lovely, and I was worried that there might not be a shade light enough for me as we tried several different shades, but eventually I found my perfect match!

It's actually perfect too, the exact same shade as my skin. I'll post a proper review this week, but to give you an idea, this stuff is my all time favourite miracle product. I used a lightweight moisturiser before so it wouldn't cling to any dry patches, and applied it all over. I used a foundation brush, just because using my fingers feels really unhygienic, and you need the tiniest amount to cover your entire face so it's really not that expensive, especially considering how much I'd normally use trying to cover blemishes/red patches. I've learned that if you spend a while really buffing it in with the brush, it spreads so far, and doesn't look at all mask-like. Definitely need blusher though, or you'll have a very one colour face! By buffing it in well, it also doesn't leave any trace of a tide-mark or smears or anything.

I'm actually in love with this product, and don't think I could be tempted to move to the regular Double Wear anytime soon. I was worried that what with the foundation being such full coverage that it might clog my pores and make my skin break-out, but it seems even better than before I started using it.

Have you used the Maximum Cover foundation? What did you think?

Love xxx
